Samsung Electronics implemented the industry's highest speed of 8.5Gbps with the latest LPDDR5X DRAM.
Samsung Electronics has verified the operation speed of 14 nm-based LPDDR5X DRAM 8 GB package with EU (extreme infrared) technology on the latest Qualcomm platform. On March 22, in cooperation with Qualcomm, it was able to implement 8.5Gbps in five months after verifying 7.5Gbps, and to expand the employment range of LPDDR5X DRAM to mobile as well as mobile.
LP DDR DRAM, which has the strengths of low power and high-performance , is growing beyond the mobile market to server, high-performance computing (HPC), and automotive, and is growing. The market is expected to expand further through (Metaverse).
Recently, in the PC market, the package size is small, but it requires memory with high performance and low power characteristics, and the adoption of LPDDR DRAM is increasing. If you adopt LPDDR DRAM in the server market, such as data center, you can reduce the power and energy required to process data, which can reduce total cost of ownership (TCO). In addition, LP DDR DRAM is attracting attention as the rapid processing of large data collected through sensors becomes important in the field.
Samsung Electronics' LPDDR5X DRAM's 8.5Gbps operating speed is 1.3 times faster than the previous generation of LPDDR5's operating speed of 6.4Gbps. In addition, the LPDDR5X DRAM has applied 'high-speed input and output signal improvement design', a key circuit design technology that minimizes the noise impact of communication signals between memory and mobile APs.

We will implement LPDDR5X in 8.5Gbps to increase the user experience with new features and improved performance of mobile, gaming, cameras, and AI applications.
Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics plans to cooperate with various companies and expand the ecosystem further to develop new markets for next-generation low-power DRAM.
